Winter Activities

Tamarack Resort is a four-season mountain resort that offers alpine skiing, nordic skiing, backcountry skiing and snowshoeing. Tamarack is located on the west shore of Cascade Reservoir, southwest of Donnelly in Valley County, about 90 miles (145 km) north of Boise. Their slope faces East, providing minimal wind with maximum snow retention. Skiers and riders can enjoy diverse terrain that includes glades, steeps, cornices and groomers, spread out over 1000 skiable acres, accessed by 6 lifts. Tamarack averages over 300 inches of annual snowfall, and is home to a 2,800 foot vertical drop.

Nordic & Snowshoe Center – Onsite

The Tamarack Nordic Trail system offers a variety of trails that wind through open meadows and forested paths with towering pines. Choose your own adventure through the groves of  Aspen, fir and Tamarack trees on your classic or skate skis, Fat Tire Bike or snowshoes.  Our regular grooming program ensures multiple kilometers of optimal terrain throughout the season. Nordic Trails are open every day from dawn to dusk during the ski season.

Ice Fishing – 5 Minute Drive

Ice fishing is a popular sport on Cascade Lake. You can find perch, trout, crappie, & bass. Just bring your fishing pole & auger.

 

 

 

Snowmobiling – 10 Minute Drive

Nearly 500 miles of groomed trails provide access to thousands of acres of off-trail riding in northern Valley County. Riders of all abilities can find open play areas offering gentle slopes, as well as challenging hillsides to tempt even the most adventurous of the “high-markers”. The diversity of terrain has earned Valley County as one of the top 10 snowmobile destinations in the Northwest by SnoWest Magazine.

Rentals are available 4 miles north of Tamarack Resort at Mountain Meadow Adventure Rentals. Tamarack Falls groomed trail-head is 6 miles north of the Resort.
